Writers who submit short stories often tend to haunt the places where anthologies are announced. Sometimes I find that I have a story on hand to fit the brief, and other times I write something specifically for what they’re looking for. When Amplitudes was announced, I knew I wanted to read it. I also knew that I had just the right story for it.
My story is a very short one, and I wrote it when I got to thinking about how there have always been queer hangouts. Even if there was a last gay bar in the universe, it wouldn’t be the LAST last. I wrote a gay club into my deep-future dystopia, and there have been excavations of the ancient world that sohw us that we’ve always been here.
That’s the point. That’s the only point.
