Callie’s World in Fusion Fragment #22

Athena has been a star on a hugely popular reality show for the last 18 years, but she didn’t know that. She sits down with Oprah to tell us her whole story.

This is my first time in Fusion Fragment, a Canadian spec-fic magazine with cool art and a great lineup. It’s available online for pay-what-you-want (including free!) and in print. Here’s the breakdown of this issue:

“0900 to 1700” by Charlie B. Lorch: tech support / ghosts in the machine / rescue

“Boomtown” by Brendan Williams-Childs: abandoned spaceport towns / loneliness / stuck in a rut

“Callie’s World” by Meg Elison: (un)reality TV / celebrity interviews / the secret signal

“Calling From the Payphone at the Teleporter Depot” by Marsh Hlavka: starting over / leaving voicemails for the ex / what we leave behind

“Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions” by Íde Hennessy: corporate communities / monthly newsletters / off-trend, dying landscapes

“Infinity and a Spelunker” by Anj Baker: the forgotten / garbage and light / loving the corridor

“Kill Switch” by A.D. Sui: the broken mental health system / losing and taking control / life comes in waves

“The World in Our Hands” by Sophie Gazarian: school projects / galactic hatching / everything has an ending

“What Happened at the Pony Club” by Fiona Moore: human rights / crime documentaries / the new computing

“Wolf Willow” by EC Dorgan: (the cost of) community / wellness retreats / try the punch

I hope you’ll read and tell me what you liked! It’s an honor and I’m so happy to see this story out in the world.
